Benjamin R. V. Marcos
Managing Partner and Principal
Ben joined Marcos Associates in 2010, subsequent to the completion of his articles. Following a brief term at a firm in the National Capital, Ben was called back to take carriage of the practice as Managing Partner and Principal in 2012.
Since his call to the Bar, Ben has been actively refining his professional competency and skill-set, applying all of his accumulated knowledge and skills in the furtherance of his clients’ interests in the areas of Residential and Commercial Real Property Law, Mortgages and Mortgage Enforcement, Wills, Estates, and Trusts, Corporate and Commercial Law, as well as Civil Litigation in select instances.
Ben prides himself on his pragmatic and honest nature. A true strategist at heart, Ben is able to cope well in high-stress situations, cutting through to the pith and substance of a matter with relative ease, and applying his knowledge and expertise to best discharge his professional obligations in the service of his clients’ best interests.
Ben is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, he holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Moncton, and a Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University, in Political Science and Philosophy.
Ben is also fluently tri-lingual and able to practice on behalf of his clients in English, French, as well as in Portuguese.
When not in the office, Ben enjoys spending his time in the outdoors, whether that be hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or simply enjoying some quiet space and time in the woods.
Andrew Coleman
Partner and Chief Operating Officer
Andrew Coleman joined Marcos Associates in 2014, after articling under Michel G. Bouchard and Benjamin R. V. Marcos. Since becoming an associate, Andrew has dedicated his focus to honing his legal competencies in the practice areas of Corporate and Commercial Law and Real Estate. In following with Marcos Associates’ niche as a full-service firm, Andrew also provides legal services in wills and estates, residential real estate, and mortgage enforcement.
Andrew’s approach to the practice of law is guided by the principles of competency, civility, and efficacy, which inform his single minded-pursuit of his clients’ professional and personal objectives.
Prior to joining Marcos Associates, Andrew articled with Champ and Associates, a distinguished human rights and employment firm based in Ottawa, Ontario.
Andrew is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 2014. He holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Ottawa in the International Law stream; a Masters of Arts in Conflict Studies, focusing on the responsibility to protect and the prevention of mass atrocities; and, a Bachelor’s Degree with honors from McGill University, in Philosophy and Western Humanistic Traditions.
Beyond his legal experience and education, Andrew has had the pleasure and honour to work for and with a number of notable persons and organizations such as, advisor on human rights and the prevention and elimination of mass atrocities in the office of LGen the Honourable Roméo Dallaire, Ret’d, Senator; research assistant to notable professors Errol Mendes, Joanne St. Lewis, and Vern Redekop; and, intern at the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect, in New York, New York.
Privately, Andrew splits his time between his family, guitar and piano, reading, billiards, and his motorcycle.
